At Borst Bloembollen, the tulip is always at the heart of everything. Every year, 60 million tulips are forced, and Borst offers an impressive assortment of 300 different varieties. Their outdoor cultivation, focused on tulip bulbs, covers 230 hectares and includes no fewer than 800 types.

This diversity is no coincidence. New varieties emerge through a long process of testing, selecting and patience: it takes 20 to 25 years for a tulip to grow from seed into a fully developed commercial variety.
Color cannot be controlled. Only after years does it become clear what a tulip truly holds within. That’s why Borst doesn’t chase quick trends, but focuses on strong flowers with sturdy stems, beautiful buds and long vase life. Tulips that are reliable in-store and in the vase. Because a great tulip sells itself.
Innovation in service of the flower
Technology plays a supportive role in the growing process. Selection robots remove diseased plants, heat pumps and solar panels provide a stable and controlled climate, and ULO cells protect the bulbs without the use of chemical agents.

Year-round quality, grown worldwide
To offer florists the same quality all year round, Borst works with several growing locations. From September to January, tulips come from Chile and New Zealand, while from December to May, Dutch cultivation complements the assortment.
A key quality criterion is the bulb: the larger the bulb, the better the flower. It’s no coincidence that 85% of their tulips meet Decorum quality, a premium label that stands for quality, innovation and sustainability.
