Accountant A–Y

Responsibilities
You are responsible for the full accounting (A–Y) of a number of Belgian group companies and report to the finance management.
Daily accounting
- You post and check purchase invoices via Scansys (OCR) and Exact Globe, with attention to the correct VAT treatment, analytical allocation and the approval process.
- You process bank statements and financial transactions and keep customer and supplier account reconciliations up to date.
- You are responsible for customer invoicing: you prepare sales invoices and credit notes, check them, and send them correctly and on time, including via Peppol.
- You import and check sales and payroll entries and reconcile them with the source systems and the payroll service provider.
- After an onboarding period, you prepare supplier payments.
- You support the follow-up of outstanding receivables.
- You manage fixed assets and depreciation.
Intercompany and closing
- You post intercompany transactions and reconcile intercompany positions with the other group companies in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Italy.
- You prepare the month-end closing within the agreed closing calendar: accruals and deferrals, provisions and depreciation.
- You reconcile and document balance sheet accounts, so that the balance sheet is ready for review.
- You provide the files and explanations for the year-end closing, the statutory auditor and external advisors.
VAT and tax obligations
- You prepare and review periodic VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat declarations and the annual customer listing, in an environment with many cross-border goods flows.
- You ensure the correct application of VAT rules and e-invoicing (Peppol) in day-to-day processing.
Continuous improvement
- You contribute to faster closings, further digitisation of invoice and bank flows, and uniform working methods across the companies.
- You flag deviations, make concrete improvement proposals and help document procedures.
- You are the accounting point of contact for colleagues in purchasing, sales and the sites.
Skills
- You have a degree in accounting or a similar field.
- You have experience with Exact Globe.
- Knowledge of Silverfin is a plus.
- You have thorough knowledge of basic accounting tasks (depreciation, payroll processing, accounts receivable and accounts payable, preparing and checking VAT and intra-Community returns, ...).
- You have a good knowledge of tax legislation (you are aware of the common VAT limitations).
- You are IT-minded, analytical, accurate, and have an eye for detail.
- You are proficient with Excel and Outlook.
- You have a solution-oriented and proactive mindset.
- You are a native Dutch speaker and have a good knowledge of French.
