Love for the tulip, from bulb to bloom

At Borst Bloembollen, the tulip is always at the heart of everything. Every year, 60 million tulips are forced, and Borst’s range consists of no fewer than 300 different varieties. Outdoor cultivation, with a focus on the tulip bulb, covers 230 hectares and offers a selection of 800 types.

Year-round quality, grown worldwide

To be able to offer florists the same quality year-round, Borst works with multiple growing locations. From September to January, tulips come from Chile and New Zealand, while from December to May, Dutch cultivation supplements the range.

An important quality criterion is the bulb: the larger the bulb, the better the flower. It’s no coincidence that 85% of the tulips fall under Decorum quality, an A-brand that stands for quality, innovation, and sustainability.

Innovation in the service of the flower

Technology plays a supporting role in the cultivation process. Selection robots remove diseased plants, heat pumps and solar panels ensure a stable and controlled climate, and ULO cells protect the bulbs without the use of chemical agents.

No mass production, but controlled perfection, always with respect for the flower.
